"[The] First record of a Kansas agricultural organization dates back to territorial days when in 1855 the 'bogus' legislature of that year organized a territorial agricultural society. There was little record of that society's further function.
A Kansas Agricultural Society was organized in 1857. While the Society soon suspended activities because of the troubled times, it reorganized in 1862 and since that date its activities have been continuous. The Legislature of 1872 formed from this Society the Kansas State Board of Agriculture."
