Kansas, Inc. was abolished on July 1, 2011 by legislative approval of the Governor's Executive Reorganization Order number 37. Kansas, Inc. provided a for business and industry, local leaders, and state executive and legislative officials to debate issues directly with one another. Its privately funded research program provided facts and information researchers. Beginning in 1986, Kansas, Inc. research reports covered such diverse topics as: aviation, value-added agriculture, business taxation, interstate banking, oil and gas, business financing, job training, rural development, workforce training, education, worker productivity, and the film industry.
