Description

The mission of the Kansas State Fair is to promote and showcase Kansas agriculture, industry, and culture; create opportunities for commercial activity; and provide an educational and entertaining experience that is the pride of all Kansans.

"The first annual fair under the direction of the Kansas State Agricultural Society was held in the city of Leavenworth, on the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th of October, 1863. Gen, James L. McDowell was chosen General Superintendent." - Kansas State Board of Agriculture, Centennial Report: 1961 (pp 323)
