The Kansas Water Office ensures that the public water supply needs of the state are met through the Water Marketing and Water Assurance Programs. A director, who is appointed by the Governor for a four-year term, administers the Water Office. The agency provides administrative and technical support for the Kansas Water Authority, a 23-member panel responsible for developing water policy for the state. The Kansas Water Office works to achieve solutions for water resource issues of the state to ensure an adequate supply of quality water. To achieve this, the agency evaluates and develops public policies, and coordinates the water resource operations of local, state, and federal agencies.
